NEI’s Tailoring Training Program Empowers Families and Young Girls

After the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, NEI began a tailoring training program to address the acute malnutrition and growing economic crisis facing 8 out of 10 families in Afghanistan. During our emergency food aid distribution, our team learned that many young girls were being sold to older men in exchange for money to feed their families. NEI in collaboration with the World Help Organization is providing vulnerable girls and women living in Kabul refugee camps with the opportunity to learn tailoring skills in a classroom setting. After completing the six-month program, students will be connected with local shopkeepers eager to purchase their clothes, enabling the girls to generate an income and remain safely with their families.
